Easter Flashback

Bonjour!

Easter holidays are well and truly over for me and I'm doing a bit of reminiscing I went to the zoo for the first time in as long as I can remember.  Not just any Zoo but the great Chester Zoo that boasts the largest Zoo in the UK (I knew nothing of this until recently!)

This Rhino looks like a robot!!
King of the Jungle
The other guy came back fighting :/

Giraffe Chilling

I did feel a little sad for the animals though being out of their natural habits and as Chester was freezing out of their climate and being stared at like....animals (badumchh)

I caught up with long lost friends, ate and slept loads even went to the movies twice in one week, a record for me! I went to see The (Not so) Amazing Spider Man 2, which was ok I'm more of a X-men fan so Spiderman does come across as a bit wet behind the ears in comparison.  Though I do think Andrew Garfield plays a better Spidey than Toby Maguire, Jamie Foxx makes a good nerd turn villan and the end is just too sad!!

The other movie was a film adaptation of one of my favourite books Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.  It was the book that introduced me to African literature, and one that documents the effects of the Biafran War in Nigeria from the perspective of it's characters.  I knew very little about the Biafran War when I read the novel, so it got me researching what happened and for a lack of a better word it was devastating.  It had an impressive cast Thandie Newton, Chiwetel Ejiorfor and Anika Noni Rose.  I have to say my favourite was Anika, because I felt she completely embodied the character of Kainnene.  Its never the same when a book is made into a movie and this is one of my favourite books, though the pace could've a little slower for me it was a brilliant effort and I was loving the fashion.

Here's the trailer

Got me thinking of fashion in Africa in the 1960s which is always tricky to find images, but I have found a few when I collate more will put up a post xx
